Property Description
The Black Hills of South Dakota is rich with the history and culture of the Old West. Part of that history is the Historic Franklin Hotel & Day Spa in the lively town of Deadwood. The Franklin Hotel had its Grand Opening on 4 June 1903. Unlike most buildings of that era, the Franklin Hotel featured phones, running water, radiant heat and electricity in each room, quite an accomplishment in 1903. The hotel was built in the Greek Revival style for the then-astounding cost of 100,000USD. Its unique features combined with the beautiful architecture soon attracted guests such as John Wayne, Pearl Buck, Babe Ruth and President Theodore Roosevelt. Over the past 15 years the Franklin Hotel under went a meticulous USD 3 million renovation. More recent guests that have stayed at the Historic Franklin Hotel and Day Spa include Kevin Costner, Gayle Sayers, and as recent as October 2004, Big and Rich, the top Country Western duo for 2005.

From Rapid City Airport/RAP-Take Highway 44 E. Omaha St. west into Rapid City. Turn Right North on Cambell St. Turn Left West onto E. North St. Turn Right North onto Lacrosse St. Turn Left at exit 59 West onto I-90. Follow I-90 to exit 30 at sturgis or optionally to exit 17.
Head North on S. Highway 85. You will enter Deadwood from the South West. Turn Left Weston Pine St. Turn Right North on Historic Main. We are located at 700 Historic Main St.
Located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. From Spearfish take Exit 17 from interstate 90, 8 miles south on highway 85 into deadwood. The hotel is at 700 Main Street and is easy to find. We have a large Veranda support by our tradmark Greek fluted white columns. From Rapud City take Exit 30 for 12 miles.
