There is also a restaurant and gift shop. They just don't make cheese there; enjoy a double-scoop of real Tillamook ice cream. Tucked away in Tillamook County, just two blocks from the Best Western Inn & Suites is Debbie D's Sausage and Jerky Factory, she creates sausage using much the same process used by her pioneer ancestors in the 1800's. The Blue Heron Cheese Company, one mile from the property, offers a selection of Carol Thompson lighthouse, seascape, marine, and kite flying prints. In downtown Tillamook about a mile away is the Latimer Quilt Center. Housed in the original 19th century schoolhouse is a working textile museum and the Pioneer Museum which has three floors of Tillamook memories dating back to post Civil War days when Tillamook was first founded. Housed in the one remaining wooden blimp hanger is a collection of World War II airplanes. The hanger itself is left over from World War II when blimps were used to patrol the coastline.
