Other Information
This event is put on by the Oak Hills Shrimp Fest, Inc and is doing business as The Texas Shrimp Fest. Oak Hills Shrimp Fest, Inc. is a non profit corporation of the Oak Hills Rotary Club Of San Antonio. We are a philanthropic organization supporting a variety of efforts dedicated to helping people all over the world ... starting with our immediate community, then expanding to our immediate neighbors and the world.
The event was on the UTSA campus in August for past twelve years. This year we are moving the event to October and we are holding it at the Helotes Festival grounds which is West of the UT campus on Highway 1604 and Bandera. The event started as an all you could eat boiled shrimp event and later evolved into an event with multiple food vendors all of which have at least one shrimp food item for sale.
The net proceeds from the event go to charity! The workers are volunteers during the event and the setup and takedown personnel are volunteer groups doing it as a fundraiser such as the Air Force ROTC, Army ROTC, and Boy Scouts. If your company or group would like to volunteer, please see the volunteer page to sign up!
