The mighty oyster takes center stage during the State's official celebration of the ancient mollusk in this seaside town. The North Carolina Oyster Festival features musical entertainment, a road race, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, kids entertainment, a comedy magic show, and is highlighted with the North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championship. An amateur contest is also staged for the less experienced shucker.
Central to the weekend, of course, is the scrumptious seafood that is integral to the South Brunswick Islands. Local Shriners will be serving up heaping plates of fish, shrimp and scallops, and oysters steamed by the bucket.
Admission is $2 per person, (parking included).
Children under 12 are admitted free.
